• Is the Canvas Backpack Becoming The New Briefcase?

The business world has painted an image of what each individual in a profession should look like. While some still fall into these trends, others choose to break outside of the parameters to incorporate their own stylish flair. There was once a time when business professionals only carried briefcases. A lot of people decided not to even carry a bag to work because the briefcase was not stylish.

It was bulky, dull, and lacked personality. It actually gave off a vibe of being stuffy and boring. However, briefcases have evolved over the years. They are much more fashionable and convenient to carry to work. There are tons of choices on the market, and the styles vary from classic, contemporary, as well as rugged. This makes it easier on those who want to uphold the professional images that have been clearly painted.

Within the past year there has been a drastic decrease in briefcase sales, as the backpack has become a more preferred choice. There are many reasons why this is occurring, but technology plays the biggest role.

    Backpack Versus Briefcase

Style wise, you can get either bag to accommodate the person you are. There are thousands of  retailers who offer both types of bags in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. You can even have your choice of material when it comes to both.

By definition, a briefcase is carried by one or two short handles. This means you will always have the case in your hand during a commute, which leaves the business professional less ability to complete tasks when riding a bus, train, or walking down the street. The world is a busy place, and as technology continues to advance, it will only get worse.

Everything we do nowadays is electronic. Our continued need to use gadgets, is like a socialistic disease that will never be cured. It is just a part of life, and we have all become very adapted to the convenience of having everything at our fingertips. This is especially true for the business professional who has to travel often, and be prepared to conduct meetings.

The Backpack has long been the most convenient form of carrying a bag. You are left completely hands free. While some might consider a backpack a juvenile look, this is not the case at all. Backpacks have become quite sophisticated in the last decade. Most even have built in sleeves to accommodate your valued electronics.

It all comes down to the fact that a backpack brings more functionality to the table. The organization that it has, cannot be beaten, as well as the fact that it can be carried in a hands free way. Style is not an issue for the backpack. There are a variety of packs available that fit into business attire with ease.

The once painted image of the briefcase being only suitable bag for a business professional, has slowly begun to fade. While many still choose to embrace the elegance and pristine that the briefcase has been given, others are making the plunge to indulge in a suitable backpack as their work bag refuge.

Backpacks are very versatile, but the change really depends on the culture of the business profession that you are in. Seeking the right bag choice is a decision that you have to be comfortable with, as you want a style that accents the person you are,  while upholding your professionalism. Both bags are very capable of providing you with that.
